Academic Appointment Categories
There are three categories of academic staff tenure appointees: teaching academic staff and research academic staff in accordance with the Regulation on Standards of Election into Higher Academic Staff. According to the Regulation the academic staff appointees are:
Teaching academic staff
• Full professors equivalent to Professor with indefinite contract period in accordance with the Kosovo Higher Education Law;
• Associate Professor equivalent to Professor with definite contract period of four years in accordance with the Kosovo Higher Education Law;
• Assistant Professor;
• Lecturers;
• Assistants;
Research academic staff
• a scientific councilor;
• a senior scientific worker;
• a scientific associate;
• Research Assistant;
The contracts are in duration of three years, four years, five years and indefinite for full professors or scientific councilors.
